He is a prominent journalist, writer, academic, researcher, intellectual and political and human rights activist. He participated in numerous scientific and cultural competitions in which he won prizes and advanced positions, in addition to his great efforts in sports media and the development of sports clubs and institutions. He is considered one of the most prominent sports journalists and media professionals in the South and the country at large. He is also one of the media leaders who took charge of several news offices in Shabwa Governorate, and he is making many efforts and activities to support and train many journalists. And media professionals in the governorate through the Change Center for Media and Studies in Shabwa Governorate, which he directs.

Prominent journalist Ali Salem Saleh bin Yahya grew up in Arma district of Shabwa governorate and completed his primary and preparatory education in Ataq city. He obtained the diploma of “Diploma of the Institute of Teachers (Four-year system)” from Ataq district, the capital of Shabwa governorate, in 1995 AD. He then joined Aden University, College of Arts, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2002 AD – with a very good grade.

After that, he decided to continue his higher studies, where he obtained a master’s degree in media, from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Aden, with an excellent mark in 2016 AD for his thesis entitled “Trends of the Yemeni press towards the Southern question.. during the period from 2007 to 2013 AD – then he went to the Arab Republic of Egypt to study the doctorate which he obtained from the Department of Mass Communication of the Faculty of Arts, Mansoura University – with first class honors in 2024 AD – for his thesis titled (Frames for the media treatment of journalistic discourse on Yemeni political issues and shaping public attitudes towards it.

For three decades, the journalistic and professional efforts and activities of Dr. Ali Salem bin Yahya did not stop. He has been strongly present in the press, media and political circles during these years through his continuous writings, his political, legal and sporting efforts and activities, in addition to his intellectual production, his principles and values ​​and the ink of his strong words. He was known for his boldness in his presentation and he sided with the oppressed of the nation. He has published several books, scientific research and critical and specialized studies, all of which have strengthened his presence and the emergence of his name as one of the most famous media figures in the South in particular and Yemen in general. His name was not absent from the Arab press, as it was felt through some of his writings in Egyptian and Gulf newspapers over the past two decades.

Our colleague Ali Salem bin Yahya began his journalistic career in 1991 AD, while he was still studying in the eighth grade of primary school at Ataq Unified School, where the October 14 newspaper published its first journalistic article on March 26, 1991 AD. After that, he moved to Al-Riyad newspaper and a number of contributions were published for him in the “Readers’ Objectives” section, then he wrote in Al-Ayyam, Al-Tagamo’ and Al-Tariq newspapers. The first sports article through which he became famous, and his starting point, was an article published on the cover of the Al-Riyad newspaper, entitled: “The death of Al-Barak… the rumor that shook the Shabwa governorate” in 1992 AD. Al-Barak was one of the stars of Yemeni football at that time, and he was nicknamed “The Sultan”. Afterwards, his sports and political journalistic writings continued to make the front pages of the Al-Ayyam newspaper, and it was not long before he became one of the newspaper’s most important writers, whose back page was adorned with his distinguished articles. In addition to sports articles in Al-Ayyam, Al-Ayyam Al-Riyadi, Al-Tagamo’, Al-Riyad, Al-Shararah, Al-Tariq and Shabwa newspapers.

One of the most notable aspects of his journalistic experience is his distinguished work in the preparation and writing of certain press articles, in addition to his skill in writing articles and columns in newspapers. He also held several journalistic leadership positions, including:

* Editor-in-chief of the sports newspaper “Al-Malaab” published in Aden in 2010.

* Editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Samasim” 2012 AD.

* Writer and correspondent for the Al-Ayyam newspaper in Shabwa governorate

* Writer in several local and Arabic newspapers and websites

* Media manager for the Sports Media Union branch in Shabwa from 1996 to 2000 AD.

*President of Shabwa Governorate Sports Media Union from 2000 to 2004 AD

* Editor-in-chief of the Change Bulletin published by Shabwa 2003/2010 AD

*Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the County Bulletin, Shabwa Governorate, 1997 AD

* He has published several sports articles and reports in some Arab newspapers and websites, including: Saudi Sports newspaper, Sports World, and Egyptian newspapers Al-Ahly and Sports News.

* He participated in the writing of numerous press articles from the Shabwa and Hadhramaut governorates in the weekly Yemeni file of the United Arab Emirates newspaper Al-Ittihad, entitled (It must be Sanaa).

* Director General of the Shabwa Governorate Information Office, during the period from 2017 to 2020.

* Media Advisor to the Governor of Shabwa Governorate

He has also published several works, the most important of which are:

– The book “The Southern Question in the Yemeni Press”, Cairo 2021 AD

– A book written by a human being, a series of journalistic articles in two parts.

He has three books in print:

A champion from the East, the Al-Tadamon club, the shining face of sport in the governorate of Shabwa.

Between Sports and Politics, a series of sports journalistic articles with a political flavor.

He has won several scientific and cultural awards, the most important of which are:

* Rashid Bin Maktoum Prize for Scientific Excellence, for scientific excellence, 2016 AD.

* Second place in the Al-Minbar Al-Yemeni magazine competition, in scientific research on the most important scientific efforts in your city during the 20th century (first place was declined). April 2018.

This pioneering journalistic experience is considered one of the most important Yemeni journalistic experiences due to its scientific, professional, cultural and sporting efforts, activities and achievements which represent the conclusion of the long journey undertaken by the great doctor and journalist Ali Salem bin Yahya, who currently heads the Change Center for Media and Studies in Shabwa Governorate, the first specialized and qualitative center in the governorate, and provides excellent services to journalists and journalists. media professionals through training and qualification courses and the publication of studies and research.
